Storytime kits are theme-based and may be used to present a storytime program to children ages 3-5. They may be used by any Head Start teacher, preschool teacher, elementary school teacher or licensed daycare provider with a current East Central Regional Library card. Storytime kits may be checked out for up to two weeks.
Each kit includes:
- 3-ring binder with fingerplays, craft ideas, coloring pages and more
- 5 or more hardcover books on theme topic
- Literacy Tip Sheet on 5 early literacy skills: Read, Write, Play, Sing, Talk
Some kits may also include:
- Big book(s)
- Puppets
- Flannelboard stories
- Fingerplay mitts, props, etc.
To reserve a storytime kit, a storytime kit request form must be filled out with the correct information. The completed form may be submitted to any local East Central Regional Library branch. The requested kit will be sent to the East Central Regional Library branch listed on the form for pick-up, and may be returned to any East Central Regional Library branch.
If the kit you requested is already being used, and you do not list a substitute kit or the substitute you listed is also not available, a substitute theme kit will be chosen for you. If you do not want a substitute, please simply put “no substitute” on the form. The list of available storytime kit themes are listed below. To look at or print out an inventory of each kit go here.
